Climate change is the most pressing issue facing humans in the 21st century. Using proper communication is necessary to get behaviour change. There are 4 approaches to changing the publics behaviour on a larger scale. Technological approach- the right technology has to be put in place for them to change (alternatives to gas for them to stop using it or more garbage cans for them to stop littering) Legal approach- focus on policy change by getting the laws right. Economic approach- focuses on taxes and pricing by making the right thing to do cheaper and the wrong thing to do more expensive. Raising awareness- focuses on information by education everybody. A problem with the first 3 is that you would need support from other people to do them. The raising awareness approach will change people"s beliefs upon which attitudes are based, which means you have to give people information. It"s about style not substance: not as powerful but easier.
