Document Summary

Learning- is a process by which behaviour or knowledge changes as a result of experience. Classical conditioning- learning that occurs when a neutral stimulus elicits a response that was originally caused by another stimulus. Pavlov"s experiment: neutral stimulus- sound of the tone. Paired with meat powder that could elicit salvation by itself. After multiple pairings, the sound of tone could elicit salivation by itself. Behaviourism- line of inquiry focused on observable behaviours rather than unobservable mental events. Stimulus- external event or cue that elicits a response. Unconditioned stimulus (us)- stimulus that elicits a reflective response without learning. Unconditioned response (ur)- reflective, unlearned reaction to an unconditioned stimulus. Conditioned stimulus (cs)- a once- neutral stimulus that later elicits a conditioned response because it has a history of being paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Conditioned response (cr)- the learned response that occurs to the conditioned stimulus.
