Sensory abilities should be indicator of person"s intelligence. Anthropometrics- measuring physical and mental variations in humans. His approach was abandoned because different senses don"t correlate well with each other. Intelligence should be indicated by more complex thinking processes, such as memory, attention, and comprehension. Intelligence- ability to think, understand, reason, and adapt or overcome obstacles: how well people can reason and problem solve+ accumulated knowledge. French government hired him and a colleague and primary schooling was offered to all kids. They wanted an objective way of identifying retarded students. Mental age- average intellectual score for children of a specific age. Stanford- binet test intended to measure innate levels of intelligence. Crucial difference between believing that test scores reflect a changeable ability or an innate capacity that is presumably fixed. Intelligence quotient (iq)- calculated by taking person"s mental age, dividing it by chronological age and multiplying it by 100.
