Definition: represents the systematic applications of a few relatively simple principles in an attempt to measure personal attributes that are thought to be important in describing or understanding individual behavior. Tests are used to make important decisions about persons. They are used in the world of work, both in personnel selection and in professional certification and licensure. These tests are also used to measure a wide variety of attributes (e. g. intelligence, motivation, anxiety and self-esteem). However, one disadvantage that the tests all share in common is their limited precision.
