The images of psychologist, psychotherapist and psychiatrist have always been fused. However they have all been involved with psychopathology. Ideas about the nature of psychological processes often have their roots in clinical practice. Management of psychopathology presents psychologists with an important marker for their expertise. Clinic often provides a testing ground for the application of psychological theories and models. Psychopathology often supplies psychologists with ideas regarding normal psychological processes. Classifications of psychopathology may serve as a basis for theories of normal personality differences. Foucault marked the beginning of the post-progressive study in the field of madness. Some behaviors that were thought of as mad have turned out to be organic or spiritual. The main idea here is that there is a wide variation of how some behaviors can be termed (e. g. speaking to oneself): the cultural meaning of madness is quite flexible. During the renaissance condition, madness is exile from it.
