Motive: person"s internal disposition to be concerned with approaching the positive ones and avoiding the negatives ones. Incentive: anticipated reward or aversive event that is available within the environment. Note that a motive and incentive are both linked together. It is not possible to simply be motived as we are always motivated towards or away from something. Motive = internal disposition (psychological or physiological) (push persons) Motivated behavior results from a person being pushed and pulled toward a end- state. Thus, for human motivation, biological and psychological motives push a person into action while environmental prospects pull a person. A person is not pushed or pulled at random but are directed towards specific ends. An individual" values, determine the pulling power of a certain goal.
