Chapter 1: the sociological perspective: sociology: is the systematic study of human society, sociological perspective: seeing the general in the particular, sociologist find patterns in the behaviour of individuals, they put them into different groups. Men, women, children, adults, rich ,poor, black, white: sociological perspective: seeing the strange in the familiar, men and women will marry a partner that is has similar values, is the same race, same religious views and wealth. Men are more prone to suicide then women: global perspective: the study of the larger world and our society"s place in it, global awareness is an extension of sociological perspective. Sociology shows us that our place in society shapes our life experiences. The position of our society in the larger world system affects everyone in. Metaphysical stage: saw society as natural rather than a supernatural system. Scientific stage: comte approach is called positivism. Positivism: a way of understanding based on science.
