Control of these kinds of assets sets the wealthy apart from the rest. Stocks, bonds, real estate and other privately owned property. Major determinant of income, wealth and power. Physicians, lawyers and engineers compared to cashiers and janitors. Educaion oten determine labour force paricipaion, occupaion and income, so it is highly valued in industrial socieies. There is a strong link between educaion and income, women tend to obtain lower posiions and earn lower pay then men even with longer educaion. Most of the rich gained their posiion through inheritance: race and ethnicity. Canadian society = egalitarian, race and ethnicity remain important determinants of social posiion.
