The ideas of crime and criminal jusice that came out of the 18th century are known was the classical school of criminology, developed the basic ideas for criminal jusice and what to do with criminals. That the criminal jusice system should respect the rights of all people; everybody equal before the law so due process, evidence, and equality were maintained. Cesare beccaria (on crimes & punishments) and jeremy bentham (uilitarianism) had the most inluence in this era, creaing the idea that jusice should be based on raionality and human rights. The major ideas coming from here is the idea of humans as free willed, raional beings, uilitarianism, civil rights & due process, evidence and tesimony, determinate sentencing and deterrence. People staring bailing on religion (enabling reforms in insituions) and focused more on hard work = success, was an era of great thought and expression. 18th century came reforms; morals, ethics, and responsibiliies became a thing.
