Document Summary

All life forms need light to survive indirectly/directly. Organic molecules products of photosynthesis, what makes them organic is carbon, hydrogen. Cellular respiration formula is the opposite of photosynthesis. Ecosystem: inter-relationships between all forms of living, ecosystem is a continual recycling of light, food, matter. Green alga, uses light as source of energy and for information ; light: for energy & info. Photoreceptor: basic light sensing system, found in all organisms. Rhodopsin: a highly conserved photoreceptor: consists of a pigment molecule (retinal) bound to a membrane protein (opsin) thousands of rhodopsin per cell in the eye. Phytochrome is the photoreceptor in plants: critical for the plant development, wavelengths of light helps transform the plant. Circadian rhythms, are used by organisms to tell time, time can influence when they reproduce, forge, bodily functions, gene expression, temperature. Not a direct relationship, its just time influences/setting the biological clock, the difference is helpful when conducting labs on organisms.
