91 views1 pages

Document Summary

The pns can be further divided into afferent and efferent. Afferent is sensory- receives information and sends to cns. Efferent is when information is sent from the cns to parts of the body. Efferent can be further divided into somatic motor neurons (skeletal muscle) and autonomic (smooth muscle and internal organs). Autonomic can be further divided into parasympathetic and sympathetic which affect cardiac muscle, smooth muscle etc. Nerves that carry afferent information to cns are called sensory nerves. Nerves that carry efferent information from cns are called motor nerves. Nerves that carry in both directions are called mixed nerves. Synapse is the region where cell communicates with another cell. Cell body is the control center that contains dna. Proteins are moved down the axon by axonal transport from cell body because they can"t be made on the axon.
