She was often commonly called pallas as well though. 2 stories are often told of how she got the name: she had a girl-friend named pallas (whom was daughter of triton and with whom she was. 2. brought up with) who she killed and in her honour took her name. It was the name of a giant she killed and skinned and from who she made her aegis from. The palladium was the most important statue of the goddess athena in troy, and was said to be a statue of athena"s friend pallas, but was treated mainly as a representation of athena, protectress of the city.
