Had royal assent (final stage of a passing bill) The goal was to provide equal, prepaid and accessible health care to eligible canadians to meet the health care policy (to facilitate reasonable access to health services without financial and other barriers (cid:1005) Criteria and conditions of the canada health act: There is a 3 month waiting period before public health insurance becomes eligible at the new province/ territory: canadians who leave the county will be insured for health care services for a prescribed period of time. This is very controversial as a person living in manitoba will not have the same accessibility compared to toronto. It must not be provided for convenience but also consider the cost effectiveness. Physicians with governing body select which services are medically necessary and are therefore insured.
