Take place in the summer of election year: general election. The date on the presidential calendar when multiple states hold primaries and caucuses. The candidate who wins the majority of votes in a state gets all of that states electoral college votes. The selecting of a winner by the majority. Primaries help to select a parties candidate. They then begin campaigning and trying to paint the opposition in a negative light.
