Prejudice unjustifiable and usually negative attitude toward a group and its members: generally involves 3 things: Stereotyped beliefs, negative feelings/emotions, predisposition to discriminatory actions stereotype generalized belief about a group of ppl. Discrimination unjustifiable negative behaviour toward a group and its members. Overt prejudice has waned, but subtle prejudice lingers. Social inequalities just-world phenomenon tendency for ppl to believe the world is just and that ppl therefore get what they deserve and deserve what they get. Enables the rich to see both their own wealth and the poor"s misfortune as justly deserved: stereotypes rationalize inequalities, victims of discrimination may react w/ either self-blame or anger. Emotional roots of prejudice scapegoat theory prejudice offers an outlet for anger by providing someone to blame to boost our own sense of status, it helps to have others to denigrate. Hindsight bias plays a role they must have deserved it look what they did : ppl also tend to justify their culture"s social systems.
