Neuroaxis imaginary line drown through the length of the cns from spinal chord. Frontal/coronal/transverse slice through the brain parallel to forehead. Sagittal parallel slice through neuraxis and perpendicular to ground. Horizontal slice through brain parallel to ground. Note the cross section throughout the spinal chord is a transverse plane that is parallel to the ground (different than the transverse plane of the brain) Is covered with two layers of meninges because csf is only in the arachnoid layer: dura mater, pia mater. Cerebral spinal fluid (csf) fluid filled space that cushions brain: helps reduce weight of brain because it essentially floats in the liquid, reduces shock to nervous system during sudden head movements. Lateral ventricles (telencephalon) massa intermedia third ventricle (diencephalon) cerebral aqueduct (mesencephalon) fourth ventricle. Cerebral aqueduct narrow tube connecting 3rd and 4th ventricles located in the mesencephalon. Csf is made in the choroid plexus which is just tissue rich in blood and it protrudes into all four ventricles.
