Most influential factors that affect the sport organizations at a moment in time and becomes the fundamental building block as to where you will be in the future. Internal strengths (capabilities) (positive) (value creating) and weaknesses (deficiencies) (negative) (value destroying) External opportunities and threats (macro and micro environments) Time dimension: appraises and determines where you are now. Time dimension: assesses what might happen in the future. Capitalize on strengths, reduce effect of weaknesses, maximize opportunities and minimizes threats. Identifies most realistic and viable strategic, tactical and operational decisions. There are 3 interactive environments which directly impact on a sport organization"s success: global (macro-environment) = considers key generic drivers of change, aka destep = demographic, economic, social/cultural, technological, environmental and political/legal. Industry (micro-environment) = closer organizational variables that directly affect industry competition: derived from porter"s 5 force competitor model and value chain analysis, organizational environment (internal/external)
