CPEN 211 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3.1: Tungsten
Document Summary
The main aim behind any electric circuit is that there is a flow of electrons from one part to another. This flow constitutes an electric current but we need ways of controlling this flow. So we add components like switches, voltmeters, resistors which serve to control the flow. So a switch is a mechanical device, which can either completely stop the flow or can let it pass. Resistors and voltmeters too can increase/decrease the flow of electrons. The main difference between electronic circuits and electric circuits is regarding the means that are used to control the flow of electrons. In electric circuits, we use mechanical or other means to control the flow, but in electronics circuits, we use electricity to control the flow of electricity. That is in electronic circuits, we use the flow of electrons to control the flow of electrons. Historically, this was introduced by edison who used the thermionic effect.
