Document Summary
There are many different ways to treat psychological disorders and to change the thoughts, behaviors, and emotions associated with them. Mental disorders typically have earlier ages of onset than physical disorders & are associated with significant impairments in the form of an inability to carry out daily activities. Impairments associated with mental disorders areas severe, and in many cases more severe, than those associated with physical disorders such as cancer, chronic pain, and heart diseases. There are personal/social/ financial burdens associated with psychological disorders. Most people with mental disorders do not receive treatment, and among those who do, the average delay from onset until treatment is first received is over a decade. People with psychological disorders don"t know when to seek treatment or where to go. Sometimes, people get treatment but they are ineffective. Treatments include psychotherapy, which focuses on the mind, and medical & biological methods, wich focus on the brain & body.
