Growth during infancy: fetal environment has a nurturing effect on baby, average newborn ways 3 kg, weight quadruples as toddler. Experience matters: first year or two after birth is critical time for neural pathways to form, plasticity is key principle at work, social contact and stimulation proven to have better brain function.
