1 in 3 canadian workers feel that their jobs are quite or extremely stressful: 62% refer to work as their main source of stress. Mental health issues alone cost canadian companies billion dollars annually. Stress accounts for 3 out of 4 short-term disability claims. Stressor the demand that causes a stress response. Stress the psychological response to demands when there is something at stake for the individual, and when coping with these demands would tax or exceed the individual"s capacity or resources. A theoretical framework that explains how stressors are perceived and appraised, as well as how people respond to those perceptions and appraisals. This appraisal approach is important because it re ects individual differences and the different ways that we choose to evaluate the nature of the demand (i. e. an introvert and an extrovert may perceive a demand differently) Interpretation may be more important than the actual event.
