Cardiovascular sys accomplishes transport via blood: internal respiraion = o2 difuses from blood issue cells, co2 difuses from issues cells blood. Respiratory system also involved w/ sense of smell/speech (as it moves air) Respiratory system includes: nose, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi/smaller branches, lungs/alveoli. 2 zones: respiratory zone = actual site of gas exchange. Composed of respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ducts, alveoli: conducing zone = all other respiratory passageways. Cleanses, humidiies, warms incoming air air reaching the lungs have fewer irritants, is warm/damp. Nose = only externally visible part of the respiratory system: provides an airway for respiraion, moistens and warms entering air, filters and cleans inspired air, serves as a resonaing chamber for speech, houses olfactory (smell) receptors. Features: root = area between eyebrows, bridge, dorsum nasi = anterior margin, apex = ip of the nose.
