Money that cannot be spent for health care. New housing requirements that do not allow people to rent with criminal records. Trouble (drug use, violence, etc. ) can occur with frustration. May need to rent in riskier environments for lower rent. Women = primary caregivers = usually not generating much profit because of low-paying and precarious jobs. With parents in prison, the other parent is working 2-3 jobs to maintain family. Kids left alone or to care for themselves high stress, bad attachments, low coping skills, low social skills, bad nutrition bad mental, physical, emotional health. Dangers of separating mother and child vs. dangers of taking child to prison. Proper medical care, pre-natal conditions, environment, etc. Access issue = shortages of family doctors.
