Programs are made up of commands that tell the computer what to do, called statements. The computer is assembled from pieces of hardware including a processor that can excite instructions and do arithmetic, a place to store data such as a hard drive. Every computer runs some kind of operating system - microsoft windows, linux, or mac os x. An operating system is a program - special bc its the only program on the computer thats allowed direct access to the hardware. 2. 2 - expressions and values: arithmetic in python. In fact, the result of division always has a decimal point even if the result is a whole number. Every value in python has a type, and type of values determine how they behave when they are combined. When we only want the integer part of the division result, we do integer division: 53//24 it takes the floor of the result by rounding to the nearest integer.
