Mutual goal: optimal health and health care for patient. Expectations of the interview: time and place of the interview and subsequent physical examination. Communication from sender: all behavior, conscious and unconscious, verbal (words spoken, vocalization, and tone of voice) and nonverbal (facial expressions, body posture, gestures, eye contact, foot tapping, touch, and what you do with your hands). Receiver interprets your words based on his/her past experiences, social and family contexts, culture, and self-concept, as well as current physical and emotional states.
