Clear demarcaion between kanians/uilitarians on experimentaion: kanians emphasize the autonomy/respect of individuals against the needs (or perceived needs) of society of medicine, uilitarians would stress how the risks/sufering of the few can beneit the many. Historical aspects: uses and abuses of medical research. +people have been subjected +risk in order that others, or future others, might beneit from their sufering. The story of experimentaion on human subjects is not the most edifying chapter in the history of western medicine . Experimentaion declining more and more with the use of the word research : more posiive connotaion. Early modern experimenters in the 18th/19th centuries tended to rely on fellow physicians, neighbors, friends or even themselves.
