Emotions, stress, and health: emotion: a response of the whole organism, involving 1) physiological arousal, 2) expressive behaviours, 3) conscious experience. James-lange theory: the theory that our experience of emotion is our awareness of our physiological responses to emotion-arousing stimuli; body response then emotion: canon-bard theory: theory that an emotion-arousing stimulus simultaneously triggers. 1)physiological responses and 2) the subjective experience of emotion: not understand emotions involve cognition. North americans more expressive: emotions best understood as a biological, psychological and social-cultural phenomenon. Ingredients of emotion include physiology, expressive behaviour and conscious experience. Happiness: feel-good, do-good phenomenon: people(cid:859)s te(cid:374)de(cid:374)(cid:272)(cid:455) to (cid:271)e helpful when already in a good mood; opposite true too, subjective well-being: self-perceived happiness or satisfaction with life. Wealth and well-being: to some extent wealth does correlate with well-being. If one is far worse off than self, usually feel better and more happy with current life.
