Document Summary

The notes on the scientific methods are very detailed. There will be insufficient time within the lectures to go through the entire notes. Therefore, please read these notes to get a better understanding. Many of the concepts discussed here will not be presented in class. If you understand these notes, you should be able to understand the lectures. If you do have a problem and i do not cover the issue in class, please come see. Philosophers have identified at least three methods by which we can gain knowledge ( truth ). We gain knowledge through communication with a higher, nonphysical being. Presumably this higher being knows much more than mortal humans. This knowledge is presumed to be absolute (it cannot be wrong) and thus, it is truth. We then must have belief or faith in this divine truth: pure logic and thought (aristotle).
