Psy2110 ~ social psychology readings (session #6: attitudes and attitude. 71 male students were used from stanford university. Required to spend a certain number of hours as subjects in experiment = was told that since they were required to serve in experiments, psychology department would conduct study to evaluate experiments to improve them in the future. Sample of students were to cooperate in interviews by being completely frank and honest: student went in for first experiment = boring tasks that took about half an hour each because it was at their own pace. Then told that they didn"t have their student that day to tell everyone else about the experiment: up until this point, procedure was identical for all conditions. From this point on, they diverged: there were 3 conditions: control, one dollar, and twenty dollars, control = went right to talk to the surveyor. and = basically the same thing, but different amounts.
