You can be classically conditioned to have fear. Whether what you are doing is consistent with what you want in order to reach goals. Fear, anxiety, depression, sadness classified as goal-incongruent because they are not helpful in reaching goals. Anger particular exception can give you motivation, but can also be destructive. Fear refers to sudden and concrete threats. Pain indicator of threat feel fear. Origin of panic attacks: sympathetic nervous system overreacting. Much more uncertainty, vague on what is causing it. Anticipatory response to possibility of something bad. May have genetic predisposition or environmental learning for activation of right/left side. Antecedents and causes of anxiety: state: temporary condition caused by stimulus from environment. Trait: personality trait of tendency to anxiousness in stressful situations: gaba inhibitory.
