Democracy in capitalist societies: capitalist owning class has two goals, 1. short term maximize profits, 2. long term to maintain the system that allows it to privately appropriate surplus value. Money going out: the growth of corporate welfare: all major political parties have allocated grants, loans, and tax concessions to those at the top - they do this because they claim these corporations will create jobs. Coercion the repressive state apparatus: rule of law is set of rules or principles that applies to all within its jurisdiction, most laws in any societies will protect the interest of those in power.
