Document Summary

Critos bribed the jailer allowing for socrates to escape. Socrates wonders if its moral to do so. Crito lists reasons why he should escape. Socrates death will be a loss to crito. *people will think* crito didn"t want to save socrates. Notice crito worry about public perception over the actual facts. Again going back to the fear of public perception. Before he was imprisoned, they determined that it is better for one to follow the opinion of the wise than the many, this fact should not change because they are under different circumstances. We can never do evil so that good may come. Injustice is always an evil and brings dishonour, there is no honor in taking an eye for an eye. The law married his parents, educated him, as such, he is basically a child of society, and disrespecting society would be like disrespecting his parents.
