Social psychology is the branch of psychology concerned with the way individuals" thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by others: coverage will include: Our impressions of others are affected by a variety of factors including physical appearance. We are often faced with the task of updating impressions we have formed of people as we get to know them better. Person perception is the process of forming impressions of others. Effects of physical appearance: studies have shown that judgements of others" personality are often swayed by their appearance, specifically attractiveness, good-looking people attract our attention more than bad-looking people. Attractive people tend to be seen as more sociable, friendly, poised, warm, and well-adjusted than those that are less attractive. Cognitive schemas: social schemas are organized clusters of ideas about categories of social events and people. If you do not have a self-schema in a particular domain, you are referred to as being aschematic in that domain.
