Motivatio(cid:374) theories, motivatio(cid:374) of hu(cid:374)ger, sexual motivatio(cid:374), e(cid:373)otio(cid:374) theories. The needs, wants, interests & desires that propel people in certain directions & to achieve goals. This approach to understanding motivation was explored by clark hull in the 1940s & 1950s. These theories apply the homeostasis (a state of physiological equilibrium or stability) concept to behaviour. An internal state of tension that motivates an organism to engage in activities that reduces this tension. Homeostasis appears irrelevant to some human motives such as a. Also, motivation may exist without drive arousal (ex: eating without hunger). Incentive theories propose that external stimuli regulate motivational states. An external goal that has the capacity to motivate behaviour. Models that take into account that you can"t always obtain the goal you desire. According to these models, one"s motivation to pursue an action will depend on 2 factors: Expectancy of one"s chances of attaining the incentive.
