What is emotional response: basically when you react emotionally when you"re under stress, responses to stress include, rage, anger, anxiety, fear, sadness, grief, although negative responses occur, positive ones still remain and even help get the person through the stress, broaden and build theory of positive emotion, alter peoples mindsets, can undo negative emotions, can promote reward social interaction to help build social support. What are the physiological responses: a reaction to a threat where the autonomic nervous system mobilizes someone to attack to flee, general adaptation syndrome, 3 stages: alarm, resistance, and exhaustion, brain body pathways, first, the hypothalamus activates the ans(sympathetic division) which stimulates the adrenal medulla, this catecholamine"s are secreted, they"re what cause fight or flight ( increase respiration, perspiration, muscle strength, second, the hypothalamus activates the master glad called the pituitary gland which secretes acth, this affects the adrenal cortex thus secretion of corticosteroids which decreases inflammation, increased protein and fat, more access to energy.
