In dsm-5, listed as a neurodevelopmental disorder viewed as brain based. Motorically and often verbally hyperactive; have probs maintaining focus. Hyperactivity: fidgets, leaves seat when inapp, runs/climbs excessively. Can"t listen/follow instructions: talks excessively, difficulty in engaging in quiet activities, gets in trouble a lot. 50% of children w/ adhd have at least one other psychiatric disorder. Most commonly odd or conduct disorder, anxiety disorders and in later years depression and substance abuse disorders.
