Synesthesia: a condition in which perceptual or cognitive activities (e. g. , listening to music, reading) trigger exceptional experiences (e. g. , of colour, taste) Grapheme colour synsthesia: refers to a condition in which words, letters, or digits are associated reliably with speci c colours. Emotional synesthesia: condition where speci c stimuli are consistently and involuntarily associated with emotional response. Taste- touch synesthesia: when tastes lead to speci c feelings. Word-taste synesthesia: when words or names lead to taste sensations. Sound-colour synesthesia: when sounds/ musical notes lead to colour sensations. Sensation: the stimulation of sense organs; absorption of energy (ex. sound waves) by sensory organs (ex. ears and eyes) and what counts as detectable depends on who or what is doing the detecting. Perception: the selection, organization, and interpretation of sensory input; cannot be measured on absolute scales. Psychophysics: the study of how physical stimuli are translated into psychological experience.
