Document Summary

Experiment was done by eaves dropping on 2 people conversation. Found that women were to laugh more than men in everyday conversations. Biggest discrepancy in laughing occurred when the speaker was a woman and listen was a man. Women laughed twice as much in this case. Men more likely to interrupt and engage in long monologues. Men less likely to ask help, and other things because it imply reduction in authority. Ex, loss male drive, female driver wants to stop and ask for help, male doesn"t because it shows incompetent. If both parties remain rm in their positions, an argument is bound to result. Social interaction: involves people communicating face to face or via computer. Feminist sociologist are sensitive to gender di erences in social interaction like described. If status is de ned as a recognized social position it is true that higher status (men laugh) and lower status (women laugh more)
