Summons- police lay information first jp will likely issue summon, -directs a person to appear in court on a specific day- failure to appear arrest warrant. 1/3 property crime and violent crime is cleared by the police, 30% of all criminal cases are stayed, dismissed, or withdrawn- - reluctant to cooperate etc. New brunswick & bc crown must give approval before police lay a charge.
