Family has lost some of its functions when compared to olden days when it was closely tied to society and it was used as a way to train youth. If they are, it is because of the roadblocks created by the materialistic forces of society that prevent families from fulfilling their functions. They are more in danger by cultural and economic forces than they are by changes in the structure of the actual family. Defamilialization is when children care taken care of by non family members who earn their living doing so. They spend less time at home and more on the outside, at education or care facilities. Getting this education makes them more useful in industrialized societies, while in other less educated societies, they are used at home for labour. Transnational families are more common-who live a part from each other. Couples that live apart is a new trend.
