Document Summary

Praxis is the bringing together of theory & practice in a synergistic process, they combine. & interact to become greater than it could ever be individually. The 1st wave of women"s movement spans from early 19th century to 1930. 2nd wave is the era from 1960"s-1980"s. 3rd wave is from 1990"s and onwards. The goals of the women"s movement are to achieve social justice& eliminate sexism, oppression, there"s no single way to achieve these goals. One important part of the 1st wave of women"s movement was concerned with issues of political citizenship of women, often referred to as the suffrage moment & its activists as suffragists. 1st wavers insisted that women should be entitled to own property, be granted inheritances, access higher education & to enter professions. Elizabeth cady stanton"s involvement shows the complexity & diversity of women"s concerns, she was committed to women"s employment, birth control, income rights, custody rights, etc.
