Document Summary

Carbon cycle photosynthesis removes co2 from atmosphere and respiration replaces it. Atmospheric co2 levels increased annually over past 60 years and by analyzing air bubbles in glacial ice snow, they found that this increase started with the industrial. Humans are major contributors to the carbon cycle because we add a lot of co2 to the atmosphere by burning fossil fuel and clearing forests for agriculture. As atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, so has mean surface temperature. Mean annual temp during 1999-2008 was warmer than 1940-1980 and in some places, temp change is slight but in others, at high latitudes, it"s been 2 degrees c. Co2 levels in the atmosphere are increasing and so is global temperature. Along with carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane are greenhouse gases that absorb and trap heat, causing average surface temp to be warm enough to keep life.
