Environment: encompasses both abiotic (physical and chemical) factors, such as wind, water, light, temperature, etc. , and biotic factors (living organisms). Climate: the average of the atmospheric conditions (temperature, precipitation, etc. ) found over the long term. Weather is the short term state of climate. The differences in air temperature among different places on earth are largely determined by differences in solar energy input.
