Document Summary

Energy metabolic is the sum of energy usage from molecular order, to functioning, and expel energy in the form of heat, Why animals need energy: the second law of thermodynamics. Isolated system is a s(cid:455)ste(cid:373) that does(cid:374)"t e(cid:454)(cid:272)ha(cid:374)ge its (cid:373)aterials (cid:449)ith its surrou(cid:374)di(cid:374)gs. Second law of thermodynamic states that if an isolated system undergoes internal changes, the direction of change is towards greater disorder. Disorder can be avoided by allowing energy input from outside. Energy is the capacity to increase order. When a water is in an isolated system of copper, at initial state, the water molecules and the copper molecules are in nonrandomized, energy direction motion. These molecules have a small scale of random movement within them. This will rise the temperature of the water. At the end, all the energy would be lost and the system would eventually lead to a random motion. This is what the second law of thermodynamic states.
