Spirit: abstract; a place becomes full of life and is sacred because it has a spirit. Personality: a composite of natural endowment and modifications wrought by successive generations of human beings (much like how humans develop their personality: two aspects of personality: i. ii. Evokes affection: exists independently of humans needs and aspiration, personality in the sense it has use but is special through its long associations with human beings (2) sense of place. We demonstrate this when we apply moral and aesthetic discernment to sites and locations. Sense has two meanings: visual/aesthetic: beauty is learned and places must be made to please us. In this way through association we get a sense of beauty. To have a sense of your city"s smell and texture as: implicit: cant be seen while at the place beautiful/special is learned. I miss the cold railing of my high school and the dainty smell of stale air.
