Sexuality-is an enduring emotional, romantic, or sexual attraction toward others based upon their gender or sex. The closet- social roles or powers of men & women, we can easily point to individuals that fill the categories of men and women. However, when we think of an individuals sexuality as largely a psychic or internal component, and many actions that we would attribute to this component tend to occur behind closed doors. Binaries- must exist if heteronormativity is to be considered normal or desirable, the second function of heteronormative social practices. Sexual othering- the process of stigmatizing homosexuality (or really any non-heterosexual practice) in order to privilege heterosexuality.
