A business is an organised effort to provide the things that people need and want, and are willing to pay for. A business exists in order to satisfy those customer needs, and also to make a profit. This means that one or more people have an idea, and has put time, thought, and effort into carrying out their idea. Example: decide you have skills to tutor neighbourhood kids in grade 12 calculus. You then begin to discuss the idea with your friends, and they agree it"s a good idea. Then you discuss it some neighbourhood families with kids attending high school. Next, you put the word out (making signs, posters, advertisement). Then putting the advertisements near the school and around the neighbourhood. When people call you pick up the call, and check your schedule. You agree on time and place, then take the bus to the time and place. But all these activities take time and organised effort.
