NROC64H3 Chapter : Touch.docx
Document Summary
Touch : sensation of mechanical displacement your skin. Includes the perception of itch, pain , thermal and kinesthesis. Kinesthesis- perception of position and movement of the limbs. Somatosensation: all the sensory signals from your body. Rspond best to low frequency vibrations i. e 5-50 hz i. e when your coffee slips and contacts your fingers as it slips, this motion across skin will cause vibration. When single fa i fiber is stimulated, it produces: wobble. But all of these 4 types of mechanoreceptors work together wheneve we contact an object. Convery teh rate at which muscles fibers are chnagign in length i. e lacking kinaesthetic sense means u are heavily reliant on visison. Neither cold nor warm fibers respond much in temp between 30 -36. Warmth fibers fire when the skin temperature aroud the receptors rises. Thermorecpetors are also active when we make contact with an object that is warmer or cooler tahn the skin.
