PHLA10H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Evolutionism, Shaky Ground, Speciation
Document Summary
Chapter 6: evoluion and creaionism (g) represents god, (e) represents mindless evoluionary processes (o) is the complex adaptaions that organisms are observed to have. Theisic evoluionism says that god set mindless evoluionary processes in moion. Atheisic evoluionism denies that there is god but agrees mindless evoluionary processes are responsible for complex adaptaions. It holds that mindless evoluionary processes. (including the process of natural selecion) are responsible for the complex adaptaions we observe. Creaionism disagrees with both atheisic and theisic evoluionism. It maintains that mindless evoluionary processes are incapable of giving rise to complex adaptaions and that god directly intervenes in nature to bring these about. Creaionism does not deny that evoluion is responsible for some of the features we observe in nature. Creaionists concede that quanitaive changes in a feature found in a species might be due to natural selecion.
