PHLA11H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 20: Distributive Justice
Document Summary
The subject of justice in holdings consists of three major topics. The principle of acquisition of holdings: a person who acquires a holding in accordance with the principle of justice in acquisition is entitled to that holding. The principle of transfer of holdings: a person who acquires a holding in accordance with the principle of justice in transfer. The principle of rectification of violations of the first two principles. The complete principle of distributive justice is just if everyone is entitled to the holdings they possess under distribution. The parallel between justice-preserving transformation and truth-preserving transformation, is that transformations illuminates where it falls as well as where it holds. Justice in holdings is historical: it depends upon what has actually happened. Theoretical investigation will produce a principle of rectification.
